The kinds of conversations we have in my house

The 13 yr. old sister:
You know, everyone but Gabe actually look like they would be related. (Talking about a TV show)
Mom:
Every family has a dark one. (Referring to Gabe's brown hair)
Sister-in-law:
Or an extra light one. (As in blonde)
The 8 yr. old sister:
That's Shawn!
Mom:
No, I think it's you. But there's also the in-between one.
8 yr. old:
I think it's [insert my name here]!
Mom:
Not since she was a baby.
Me:
I've been the dark one, the light one, and the in-between!
Mom:
You're right! Your hair changes with your brain!
Me:
My... brain?
Mom:
Or your mood. [Your hair] just can't decide what to be.
Me:
